Well, with how close the vote was between Clearwater and Pilot Mound, I decided not to hold off any longer. Today, we will talk about Pilot Mound! (Photo #1!)
You’re going to notice that I did not cover some specific areas, and that’s because I focused on what I could find right in the town. I will be heading to these places in the future, but today is not that day! What I did cover, was absolutely beautiful though. Let’s start with the Memorial Rose Garden. (Photo #2!)
You notice right away after entering that people here take this area seriously. (Photo #3!) The gardens are well-kept and the flowers are lovely. (Photo #4!) The memorial sign is a nice, thoughtful read, and I also took a photo of the electronic sign because it’s a great way to keep up with what’s going on in the community. The coordinates sign is super cool, too. (Photos 5-7!)
This photo might surprise people outside of the community (Photo #8!) but those from Pilot Mound know that some of the best curlers in Manitoba history have played in this building. In fact, if you walk to the other side of the building, you’ll see a Wall of Fame for some of them. (Photos #9 & #10!) I wish more communities would do this. I just think it’s so cool.
Finally, I have to give props to the Rock Lake Funtown Daycare. (Photo #11!) It caught my eye off the highway, and I walked around the equipment they had, and just had a good time. Dare I say, a fun time. (Photos #12-15!)
I also enjoyed that they had a basketball hoop that I could dunk on, as well as one my wife could dunk on! 😉 (Photo #16!)
All in all, a fun, quick trip to Pilot Mound. I didn’t get to spend as much time there as I would like, and we’re already planning a return trip. Thanks to both communities for being a part of this vote, and we are looking at maybe doing a project like this again.
